Autumn budget: Warrington’s winners and losers

The Government released their budget plans on October 29 with changes being made to a range of money matters that will affect our residents: from pensions and benefits to the minimum wage. But what do the changes really mean – and it is good news or bad news for you? Workers Workers will benefit from […]

Universal Credit

Universal Credit is a new benefit which has replaced income-based Jobseekers Allowance, income-related Employment & Support Allowance, Income Support, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit and Housing Benefit.

In February 2017, Warrington moved to the full digital service. This means that Universal Credit is available to anyone with a sufficiently low income to qualify, rather than just people in certain circumstances.

Some people will be better off under Universal Credit, whilst others will be worse off. We can offer our tenants a benefit check to establish how they will be affected

Personal Independence Payment

Personal Independence Payment is a benefit paid to working-age people who have disabilities which make it more difficult for them to look after themselves, and/or who have difficulties walking or getting about. It has replaced Disability Living Allowance for all new claims, and over time Disability Living Allowance will be phased out, with claimants being invited to apply for Personal Independence Payment instead.

Most people will be required to attend a face to face assessment with a health care professional as part of the assessment process. The health care professional may also contact any other people named in your application form for further information.

“Warrington Housing Association’s Whia service is great, as it helps people stay in their own home, and this is really complimented by the fact that you are then introduced to their other services like the LifeTime centre – which shows they really care for the community they work in.”

Barry and Lynn

“Our home is in a quiet neighbourhood with lovely neighbours – which makes such a difference. But equally, Warrington Housing Association has always been really helpful”
