How to help protect yourself from catching the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Good personal hygiene is one of the best ways you can protect yourself and others.

As a minimum, you should wash your hands after:

  1. Using the bathroom.

  2. Sneezing, blowing your nose or coughing.

  3. Touching a cut or open sore.

  4. Playing with pets.

  5. Using public transport.

  6. Smoking.

  7. AND BEFORE eating.

And to wash your hands effectively, you should:

  1. Soak hands in running water.

  2. Apply soap and scrub hands for at least 20 seconds, including between fingers and under nails.

  3. Rinse hands under running water

  4. Use a paper towel or tissue to turn off the tap.

  5. Dry hands using an air dryer or clean towel. 

  6. Use hand sanitiser when you are unable to access washing facilities.
