Today marks the start of Volunteers’ Week, a time to say thanks for the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.
At Warrington Housing Association we are proud of all our volunteers from those who work on our scrutiny panel (WHASP) to those who help with providing activities at LIfeTime.
Kathleen Goddard is a volunteer for WHASP and has lived in one of our shared ownership retirement properties for three years.
She said: “I wanted to be able to contribute to where I lived, so I decided to join WHASP. I like to be involved in community activities and I wanted to be able to be the voice of other residents. The group is fun and friendly, and we have some laughs but what we do to scrutinise the work of Warrington Housing Association is serious business. I want to make a difference.
“During the pandemic, WHASP were still able to still meet online but we are all looking forward to getting back to face-to-face meetings. It is vital housing associations work together with tenants and WHA do a good job engaging with residents and customers.”
Bernie Hubble, Customer Voices Officer, said: “WHASP (Warrington Housing Association Scrutiny Panel) is such an integral part of the organisation. The members of WHASP help us shape the business for now and the future.
“I am so proud of how WHASP adapted to online meetings during to Covid -19 pandemic and still continued to produce excellent quality work.
“We also recruited four new members over the last year who share the panels vision of increasing engagement and driving up standards at WHA.
“I look forward to the future of WHASP and am passionate about increasing engagement across all our homes and WHASP share my vision, so watch this space. I just want to say a big thank you to all our volunteers for the amazing work they do for their fellow residents – it is really appreciated by everyone at WHA.”
